About the event

The Devizes to Westminster International Canoe race, which is the longest non-stop canoe race in the world, takes place every Easter weekend and is an ultra marathon.

The race starts in Devizes in Wiltshire and travels down the Kennet and Avon Canal until it joins the River Thames at Reading. After that, it follows the River Thames to Westminster, which is located in the heart of London.

The race is 125 miles long and involves numerous locks. Because of this, in addition to arduous paddling, there is a considerable amount of running involved as well. The race has 77 portages, and one of the checkpoints is the Tea Rooms, Aldermaston Wharf. The event takes place from the 7th to the 10th of April, with Saturday the 8th being the busiest day for competitors to pass through.

For more details on the event itself, visit http://www.dwrace.co.uk

Come and join us at the Tea Room to support the competitors as the pass our checkpoint. We would love to see you there!
